Colour blocking is a simple way to add a fun element to a child’s bedroom. It’s an easy DIY project that involves painting solid blocks of colour side-by-side to create a bold, graphic statement. Colour blocking can be used as an accent wall or can wrap around the entire room. For the design to really pop, choose colours that have good contrast to each other.
The key to this paint technique is using the appropriate masking tape to achieve crisp, well-defined paint edges with no bleed through. PaintPro® BLOCK-it™ masking tape by Cantech will give you that successful result.
Start your colour blocking project by lightly drawing your design on the wall with a pencil. Then apply the blue PaintPro® BLOCK-it™ masking tape around one colour area along the pencil lines and be sure to press down along the tape’s edge where paint will be applied. Good adhesion at this step will prevent paint from bleeding underneath the tape.

Protect other surfaces like trim, baseboards and obstacles with Cantech’s green PaintPro® 14-Day Premium masking tape. When the area of your first colour is completely taped, apply paint in as many coats as needed. When paint is dry, carefully remove tape. Repeat this process for the rest of your colours.
