Replacing doors and windows gives you the opportunity to add more natural light to your indoor spaces. There are many ways to achieve this and one of the easiest ways is to choose a door with a glass element or replacement windows with a smaller profile frame.
The glass element in exterior doors is available in half, three quarter or full glass for maximum light. If your project involves construction, think about enlarging the door or window opening to give you more options. A larger opening at the front entry will allow a door with one or two sidelights or perhaps double doors. Today’s sliding glass doors are available in extra wide sizes or can be paired with an extra glass panel to increase the overall width.
You can also combine windows and doors adjacent to each other to create a wall of glass. This high end look can be achieved without a high end price by pairing stock-sized doors with stock-sized windows. Get the look of a transom window by stacking smaller windows above doors or windows.
Corner windows will expand views and bring in light from different directions. Bay windows, bow windows and inoperable picture windows offer expansive views and light and can often be from floor to ceiling.
