The most economical and favoured DIY insulation product on the market is fibreglass batt insulation. It has been on the market for over 80 years and has consistently provided excellent R-value results.

Fibreglass batt insulation is mould and mildew resistant and does not shrink, settle, burn or attract animals and insects. Installation is easy for the average DIYer but it has to be done correctly or can result in an overall decreased R-value. Batts are typically pre-cut in sizes that fit either between studs for walls or rafters and joists for attics. There are assorted R-values available for each size of batts – the higher the R-value, the more effective the insulating properties. If you are unsure what R-value to choose, purchase the highest R-value you can afford.
