How to prepare drywall for painting

Using primer on drywall is an essential step in preparing your walls for painting. Primer will help the paint adhere better to the drywall and provide a smoother finish.

Follow these steps provided by the Paint Experts at Sico:

  • Clean the wall surface thoroughly by wiping it down with a damp cloth to remove any dust or debris.
  • Apply the primer using a roller or brush. Start from the top of the wall and work your way down, applying the primer in thin, even coats. Allow each coat to dry completely before applying the next.
  • If the drywall has any spots or stains, apply an additional coat of primer to those areas and allow it to dry completely before painting.
  • Once the primer has dried, you can paint the wall with your chosen colour.
