Sometimes a bathroom doesn’t need a complete renovation to have a new fresh look. There are small budget-friendly projects you can do that have big impact. Updating the smaller details in your bathroom has a cumulative effect on the style of the room.
1. Lighting
Replace the bathroom light fixture for a current style. You can use this opportunity to add more light to your bathroom by installing a light with more bulbs. Or, if you have a ceiling exhaust fan, you can replace it with a fan/light combo to add more lighting.
2. Hardware
Cabinet hardware has a big impact on the style of your vanity. You can choose knobs or pulls that have the same hole pattern as your existing knobs. Or if you are going to paint your vanity, go for a different hole pattern then fill the existing holes and paint over. Replace towel bars and toilet paper holder with something current. For a cohesive look, try to have all your hardware match in style and finish.
3. Faucet
Choosing a new faucet is an instant bathroom update. Choose a finish that will match the other finishes in the room. A new faucet will have better water-saving features.
4. Paint
A new paint colour scheme in your bathroom is one of the more economical style changes you can make. Consider painting the vanity a stand-out colour for big style statement.
5. One sink or two?
If you have room for a large vanity in your bathroom, this is a question you will face. Couples usually opt for double sink vanities so they can access the bathroom at the same time on busy mornings. Although two sinks sounds practical, note that you will lose counter space with the second sink and the extra plumbing will take up storage space below. Also, your budget will be doubled for the added sink, faucet, mirror and lighting.
