Interior doors are an important architectural feature of your home and can add style where there was none before. Molded composite doors are the most popular and affordable interior door. Available in assorted styles, they define a space and add character to your home.
While style will be a big factor in choosing a door, how the door is made is also important. There are 2 types of door cores, hollow core and solid core. Hollow core doors are lightweight, inexpensive and easy to install. Solid core, also called Safe’n Sound, are stronger, heavier and have better soundproofing. They’re better insulated and provide good fire resistance.
Keep in mind that most composite doors are primed and require painting. Prefinished doors with factory finish are available on special order.
Another thing to determine is how you are going to install your door. A slab door is just the door and doesn’t include a frame or hinges. This is the door you want if you are replacing an existing door, as long as the door frame is in good condition and the new door is the same size as the old one.
If there is a problem with the existing door frame or you are installing a brand new door where there was never a door before, then a pre-hung door is best. Pre-hung is the same interior door already hinged within a frame. See in-store for all the door styles available. If you don’t see the perfect door in-stock, consider interior doors available as Special Order.
